Take this as a “prob true but wait for a proper announcment”, but Sir Ian McKellen has confirmed to Empire that Guillermo del Toro will indeed be on script duties for the two Hobbit films, and he will start work on it in about 6 weeks. That is right after he has put Hellboy 2 to bed.

Were you ever in any doubt? Of course Sir Ian McKellen and Andy Serkis were going to sign on to The Hobbit.
Speaking to Theonering.net Del Toro confirmed the two thesps for the film. While he spoke of the second, as-of-yet untitled film, he didn’t give away any hints to the feature apart from that it will be a totally new invented story. Although we assume he will be drawing a great deal for Tolkiens extensive notes.
Del Toro was adament though he will be using a great deal of animatronics which will be inhanced by CGI, rather than just big lumps of jpegs.
Yep X Files: I Want To Believe (WORST TITLE EVER), is to be released in the UK on 1st August. While the storyline is hush hush i am sure there will be lots of “moments” between our two favorite FBI agents.

Would you Del Toro it?!
As predicted, hoped, prayed, deamed, demanded by us here at STN, Mr Guillermo del Toro, has indeed signed on to direct The Hobbit and an original story between that novel and the Lord of The Rings. The films which are due to on in 2011 and 2012 will of course have Peter Jackson and his writing partner Fran Walsh producing.
As soon as Del Toro is done with Hellboy 2 he will jet off to live in New Zealand for four years and get started on the two epics. While scribes have yet to be announced do not be surprised if Jackson, Walsh and Del Toro put their hands to it.
Now what else could make this dream better? Ron Pearlman as Thorin Oakenshield? You heard it here first kids!
